What is a redirect?

A redirect, temporary or permanent, sends users and search engines from the requested page to another location. This often happens when content is moved elsewhere or URLs change for some other reason.

The two types of redirects are 301 Permanent redirects and 302 Temporary redirects. In terms of SEO, a redirect tells search engines that everything from an old page has been moved to a new location.
